Applications
Adhesives are selected for bonding materials such as tiles or other construction elements to a suitable base. Their use depends on both surfaces, the location and the expected exposure. Concrete admixtures are added during mixing according to an approved mix design and the product instructions; they are not surface adhesives. These product groups require different preparation and quality checks. A bonding task, a tile installation and a change to concrete mix behaviour should therefore be reviewed as separate technical requirements.
What we assess
For adhesives, identify the materials being joined, substrate condition, finish, movement and moisture exposure. Verify compatibility with any waterproofing layer and the intended installation method. For concrete admixtures, state the purpose, cement and other mix constituents, batching conditions and any existing additives. Review compatibility and conduct appropriate trial mixes before a change is adopted. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for preparation and use. Product names alone are insufficient to establish that an adhesive or admixture suits a particular project.
