Applications
Cementitious waterproofing is considered for concrete, appropriate masonry and other mineral substrates specified by the manufacturer. Typical project areas include wet rooms, foundations and basement structures, depending on the individual material. Coatings and crystalline products have different application requirements and should not be treated as interchangeable. Surface defects, construction joints and pipe penetrations need planned details. Where tiling or another finish is proposed, the waterproofing and subsequent layers must be assessed together as part of the complete construction.
What we assess
Check the base material and its condition, including cracks, loose areas and previous surface treatments. Establish where water comes from and whether the selected product is documented for that exposure. Review substrate preparation, moisture requirements, curing and compatibility with adhesives or finishes in the technical data sheet. Moving joints need a suitable joint detail rather than a coating alone. The choice between coating types should follow the project requirements and product documentation, with further assessment where the construction is uncertain.
